I know this is an old movie. After watching it I remember I did it before. Well, regarding it, what can I say? Of course I can’t comment the special effects. But while some images look cool (see the one above) some other are quite, quite bad (as an example, the small ship used to travel between Starfleet quarters to enterprise. So, not sure why some are not that bad, and some are awful. But then, in 1979 I was one year old.
About the story, acceptable. I found V-GER story interesting. Always nice to see some cross-over between sci-fi and some reality.
Also, I just discovered that the series is prior to the movie. So, now I have in my queue to watch at least one episode from it, and see if I want to see them all.
Right, it ended. Badly. Unfortunately, somebody wrote the season finale before the series got cancelled. Now, I feel like Sheldon Cooper, needing completion. No, this is not anything you do to your followers. Nop. Wrong.
Well, regarding Under the Dome, the first season is the best. The second goes down. The third goes up again a little. The end is a little fun, but also a cliffhanger. And I would love to see where they would go from there.
I know I should not watch more series. But I was tempted. Just by the name. Yeah. Under the Dome. A lot it can mean. Well, watched the pilot episode just for the kicks, and try to understand how cool it could get. At first it was mostly confused, and it seems it continues that way, for now. But the effects, the gore (check above) and Rachelle Lefevre was enough, for now, to make me wanting to watch the second one.
So, for now, will probably watch the second episode as well. Then, who knows if I’ll watch any more of them.
This is that kind of series that go in a crescendo. At the beginning it was kind of slow, with an episode-based story, mostly on S.H.I.E.L.D. (God, that is tiresome to write) agents working. Then a bigger story is formed, curiously, joining some of the different stories that were told before. At the end, a big crescendo and a great season finale.
The, you have action, your have scifi (a lot), you have girls for every taste, and a lot of humor. And if that is not enough, you have Skye, a sexy… erm… E.T.
In case you need a motivation to watch this movie, probably the picture above is enough. And I will not comment more on that in this post… well, that will be difficult…
Now, on the movie, the plot is interesting enough. Flaws? Probably lots of them. I did not really though on that while watching. If you know you are watching a Sci-Fi movie, let it go, and trust it. Do not try to rationalize. Of course, some inconsistencies can make a movie worst. But although some can exist on Lucy, I do not think they ruin anyhow the movie.
Also, the “National Geographic”-like interrupts are, somehow, interesting, although annoying on specific parts. Nevertheless, an 8/10@IMDB. Scalett’s fault too, right.
Yeah, only me to put a screenshot with Uhura for Star Trek. But then, if you notice my other post about the last Star Trek movie, I put some underwear as well. So, for consistency, I decided to follow the same idea.
And, yeah, as usual (not really, but…) I watched these last two Star Trek movies in the wrong order, so I missed some details in the last one, that were explained properly on this. So, sorry for the spoilers. Stop here if you do not want any.
When watching the second movie I though our good old Leonard Nimoy (aka THE Spock) was some kind of father for the new Spock. Just understood they are the same with this movie.
Regarding the story, I must confess that I though of this dual life (travel back in time, change the future) was a decent solution to continue this saga. It allows to construct new lives for the characters we all know, without the weight on “hey, you are changing the story.. it didn’t go that way”. So, now two different stories can be told, in parallel. Probably (mostly sure) a lot of Star Trek fans did not like this solution. But for me, it was a damn good choice.
I know this movie is.. what.. eleven years old. But I remember watching the first two Terminator movies and liking them. So, the other missing two were always planned to be watched. Here is the first one.
And let me say, it surprised me. I did not expect it to end like this. Not when you are watching a common Hollywood movie, where the good ones always save the world against the bad ones. Sorry for the spoilers, but after eleven years I expect everybody in the universe to have watched it.
Regarding acting, yeah, Arnold is not a great actor, but it does the role in an acceptable fashion. And as always, my complain it that T-X is never filmed properly… erm… nude. And… didn’t expect her to be one year younger than me… yeah, getting old. Damn.
For some time that IMDB is suggesting me to watch this movie, and I wasn’t sure if I’ve had watched it. Nevertheless, after watching it, I continue not being able to be sure. But I think I did not.
The thing I like on this movie is that we have a lot of mutants, with a lot of different powers. Wolverine movie is mostly him. I like to see what the invent. Like, for example, the nails above. Cute.
Other than that, the story is standard, with interesting jokes. Liked it enough to vote 8 in 10 at IMDB. To conclude, I can only say that Iceman is a chicken. Couldn’t him control all that water? It would be easy…
I always loved this ship and always wondered how such a big thing and completely non aerodynamic could fly. Anyway, this time I got to know that they use nuclear power. Damn. You could do better, J. J. Abrams.
When watching a science fiction movie you need to be prepared for non-logical things. I can be prepared for ships flying, warp speed, ultra weapons, radiation, et al., but I can not be prepared for a Vulcan to fall in the back of a ship, right in front of the thrusters, and not being toasted.
Other than that, the story is mostly the usual, a bad guy (curiously Benedict Cumberbatch uses a gabardine both in this movie and in Sherlock series… it seems it is his common uniform), a guy that seems to be good but is also a bad guy, a hero almost dying and getting back to life… so, the usual.
What can I say more? I do not like the new Spock. And I am happy there are still standard feminine lingerie in the future. Very happy.
Fifth movie from the series. Ten years after the first movie. Some more from the original game. And Milla Jovovich still in good shape (as you can check above). In fact I chose that image because I found the.. erm.. dress, quite interesting.
Regarding the movie, no big story. Nevertheless, the small part of the big Resident Evil story that this movie fills, is told in a compelling way. Of course there are some faults on the story, and being it sci-fi, some other details that are not faults by themselves, but that you need to agree with, or the movie wouldn’t be possible.
Anyway, and sorry for the little spoiler, I just loved to watch the bullets getting disposed from Rain (Michelle Rodriguez) by their fingers. Just cool.
And of course, do not expect this to be the last from the series. It will continue. You can check a new entry in IMDB, but also, you can watch this fifth movie, and you’ll understand it couldn’t end this way.
