I Check Movies screenshot
I have been using My Tv Shows to track the episodes I watch for some TV series. For movies, I am relying on this blog. Today I decided to search for a similar web application for movies. I found what it seems to be promising: I Check Movies.
Unfortunately, what seemed promising resulted in a big delusion. First, the website lacks on usability. How do you check a movie you have just watched? I searched for a menu option, but there wasn’t any for that operation. Finally, I decided that probably that option would show up if I searched the website for a specific movie. Note that the search entry is somewhere near the profile options, where you are not expecting a main feature to be present.
But hey, I tested it, and the result was that the movie I just searched was not available. That is just great. And there is no option to add it. This would mean that I just watched a movie that does not exist at all. Yes, they do not admit that they might have forgot some great movie. I confess it wasn’t a great movie. My search was Bikini Girls on Ice, just because it was the last movie I watched. But it wasn’t found.
I decided not to give up right ahead (but that was my will), and tried to search for Big Fish. It is in the 250 top list from IMDB so it should really be there. And, great, it was. I checked in the movie. The website took about two minutes to process that request. Great for an asynchronous AJAX call, huh?
Then, I got back to my dashboard, and saw my profile a shown above. Can you notice anything interesting? Note that I have 0 checks, but I have one Last Checked item. Great!
Deleted the bookmark. Will continue to use this blog and IMDB to rate movies.

Bikini Girls on Ice
Bikini Girls on Ice is classified in IMDB as, in the main category, horror. I tend to disagree. Although the writer might want this to be a horror movie it is too soft.
First, there is no story. Some guy kills everybody he finds. Period.
So, how did I manage to watch the movie till the end? Look at the picture on the right and you will understand. Yes, the guy kills everybody he finds. But this movie director known that, if he added bikini girls, people would stay till the end of the movie. Not because they are interested in whatever will happen to them (they will die, of course), but because they are interested in looking to well looking girls in bikini.
And some handsome girls.
Movie is 4.2/10 in IMDB at the time of writing. I am sure it is not because of the movie. Rating 4, just because of them… the bikini girls.

Big Fish
Probably it is enough to say that this is a Tim Burton movie to explain why it is in the top 250 movies on IMDB. I am not properly a fan of dramas. It makes us think too much. While that is good from time to time, it also makes me depressed. And this movie makes us think yet more when you have old parents.
But hey, let’s continue on the movie. I mentioned Tim Burton already, right? So, expect fantasy. Lots of fantasy. Also, expect comic scenes. Watch the movie with your heart and mind opened.
Finally, although this movie is from 2003, it is nice to notice that Alison Lohman continues to be beautiful. And she is one year younger that me. Oh, let’s get back to reality… damn

Eva Mendes @ The Spirit
I had this movie in my queue for some time. I remember a lot of fuzz because of this movie. And now that I’ve watched it, I can’t understand what all that fuzz what about. The story is the usual, for superheroes movies. Something, like a spider of an injection, it is the same thing, make the man a superhero. He has an alter-enemy. And they fight. Occasionally, there are girls. Oh, and regarding girls, this movie was stuffed with them, starting with Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson or the also cute Jaime King.
The only thing that makes this movie different is the way it is filmed. But ever that, although interesting, is not great. It makes the movie difficult to understand on some scenes.
Voted 5 on 10, at IMDB.

Monella (1998)
This is yet another movie directed by Tinto Brass. Classified as comedy, it is also erotic (easy to notice with the screenshot above). The story is simple: how people deal with virginity before wedding. Not much more to comment. Yeah, Monella is cute.

OSS 117 - Lost in Rio
Not sure why this movie is in my watch list. Possible some screen-shots with bikini girls. That can be the only explanation. As far as I could understand, this movie is a parody to 007 (yes, not difficult to get there, just looking to the name would be enough).
While I can understand it is a parody, and a comedy, I think the movie is too stupid. I confess that I watched the movie till the end just to watch Louise Monot. She is very beautiful, and, after saying she was bra-less, I was wondering if she would prove that…

#1 Cheerleader Camp (2010)
No, the movie is not all like that. Yes, it is a comedy. Yes, the story is dull. Yes, it is worth seeing.. if you like to see cheerleaders. There are girls. Lot of them. Probably not really the quality, but the quantity. In any case, it is funny. Have some good time.

The X -Files: I want to believe
This afternoon was time for The X-Files, I want to believe. I was never much a fan of the series. Probably because when it started in the TV, in Portugal, I was young and probably afraid of the unknown. In any case, I wanted to see this movie to redeem myself.
What I liked on this movie was that Mulder and Scully weren’t after the paranormal guy, but were after a common human killer. So, where are the X-Files? Well, this time they used the paranormal guy to reach the killer.
About the movie, I can complain of some dead scenes, with Mulder and Scully talking. They were not many, but started to bore me a little.
Final vote of 8 in 10.

Ice Age 3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Today was cartoons day. Ice age 3 (hope I am counting them correctly) is great. Personally, better than the first, better than the second. Why? Not so much drama, much more action, much more fun. And, of course, Scrat is there, running around with his love… the acorn (nut).
Classification in IMDB? I am in doubt whether to give it the maximum classification. Yeah, I will…

Zatoichi
To change a little from Hollywood movies, this one being original from Japan (as far as I could understand). About the movie, the story is well told, with some returns to the past to understand characters histories. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to understand the full history from Zatoichi, the main character. Nevertheless, the movie is well done and with nice action scenes. Also typical from this kind of movies, there is some excess of blood around. No, not complaining about the amount of deaths, but complaining about the quantity and the pressure of blood that the producers think is inside the human body.
A final remark, at least four calm scenes, with music and choreography. While the first two are nice two watch, as a group of workers work, and a group of children play at the rhythm of the music. The third moment, with people constructing an house is not that good and, the final dance shows the director was completely out of the mind trying to find anything to make the movie bigger…
