I leave to the readers to find an excuse why I chose this specific picture. In any case, and although I am not a big fan of Batman, this movie was interesting, as it is not the usual super hero movie, fighting a criminal, but some more, creating a character. And that is always interesting to observe.
Regarding the movie, not much to say. Just that I am waiting for the new Batman Lego sets. There are some good promises.
Other than that, I take the occasion to talk about super-heroes. Does they need to be extra-terrestrial (like Superman or Thor), bitten (like Spiderman), a scientific experiment (like Captain America or HULK), to have a genetic property (like all X-man superheroes) or… to be rich (like Ironman or Batman). I do not know any poor superhero. At least I do not remember any. And no, Robbin Hood is not a Superhero.
How I miss old blue Spaceship theme from Lego. And Benny, with that faded away logo, and the detail of the broken helmet really make me recall good old times. I am missing them so much that the new spaceship from The LEGO Movie, already on sale, is tempting me so much.
But let me get back to the movie. First, the story is counter-nature. All adults I know that like to play with LEGO do not glue their constructions. The only persons I know that glue constructions are from LEGO. Now, that adults might not like to play with children, that might be true, just like older children do not like to play with small kids. In any case, let me state that I want to have kids, and want to have kinds in the age of playing with LEGO, just to have an excuse to buy LEGO sets.
The animation in this movie is great. It is very cool that everything (with few exceptions) is LEGO. For example, in the image above (not easy to see, probably) all that white mass is dust. The same happens with fog and water. They are all made of LEGO. Just great.
Although I did not like much the LEGO-Human interaction (I would prefer a simple all-LEGO movie), there are some details that are very cool. For example, how the ghost bellow have a small string attached.
Voted 9 in 10. Waiting for the second movie. And for that SPACESHIP! Spaceship! Spaceship!
Not only children like Lego. I love them. I usually buy Technic, but I like most themes, like City or Creator. This Christmas I found this box being sold at Lidl at a good price, and couldn’t resit buying it.
These Creator sets are interesting, as they include instructions for three models. This one also includes instructions for a forth model, available online. At the moment I just mounted the Helicopter that I show above. Easy construction techniques, as expected for this kind of model, but show that Lego designers just do that: design. They need to learn to play. Take the Copter, play a little with it. You will notice that the undercarriage pieces (that I point above) aren’t well fixed to the Copter body. During mounting, those pieces detach half a dozen times. And it is not that difficult to fix. With two or four more pieces it would get solid.
