Hannibal – S01E01

Weird, very weird. First, I should note that although I hear a lot about Hannibal Lecter, I never read or saw any story on him, and therefore, I was kind of lost. After a quick visit to wikipedia things got clearer. This probably shows that the first episode is not that good as it might be, as people new to the Lecter story might end watching the episode, and be kind of lost.

Nevertheless, I am interested to see next episodes, even with the “viewer discretion advised” message.

The Exorcist (1973)

The Exorcist (1973)

The Exorcist (1973)

The Exorcist (1973) is a good movie. First, remember it is from 1973. The special effects weren’t that evolved. Thus, a lot of them are just make up. Nevertheless, you can get some great views, like rotating heads, levitation and some other. The story is mostly what you would expect for the title. The main drawback is that we do not get a proper exorcism working. The devil disappears by other means (check the movie to understand). Also, there are some minutes from he beginning of the movie that aren’t relevant. I know they connect with the exorcist, but in fact they do not bring anything new to the story. With those scenes, the story could be made better and more interesting. But probably the director noticed the movie was getting too big, and just decided to cut the story. I just can say I think the end could be a lot better.

Also interesting is to read about the actress who made the girl character. She was almost nominated to an Oscar, but then they noticed she used some stunts and a dubbed version. So, if you want an Oscar, try to make it real.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010)

Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010)

Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010)

Fun! This is the first word coming to my mind. The second, is probably blood. Yeah, if you can’t cope with blood, just do not watch this movie. It is not an horror movie, but you need to be prepared. Especially if you are not very strong of your stomach.

Anyway, fun! Oh, and college girls. That is also relevant, of course. But we will come to that later.

The story is not relevant to review the movie. It is nothing really new, but the result is fun. I will not give spoilers, but Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (2010) is about events that happen and that, when viewed from the wrong angle, can be interpreted in bad ways.

More, Dale reminds me of me, big fat guy, fun, and without luck with girls. But Dale ends the movie with Allison (Katrina Bowden) that makes me think, when will I have that luck?

Well, back to the movie, or better, back to the girls, you have two other girls going around. Chelan Simmons (as Chloe, also stunning), makes the typical Barbie girl, on hells, blond hair, and moving her harms like… well… a typical movie-blond…

I can’t end this post without makes you wish see the movie. If humor and fun, comedy and blood, doesn’t do it, probably a capture of Katrina Bowden will…

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

First, yeah, it is a good choice to see The Exorcism of Emily Rose in Christmas Day. Much better than watching it on Halloween or something. I was expecting something more from the movie. It doesn’t have that big special effects I was expecting (but that’s probably good, as Jennifer Carpenter as a great performing), and during the movie I forgot it is based on true facts (or at least they said) and I was expecting some non-natural behavior in the Court Room. But then, that would make the movie not credible.

The story is not that good to take two hours of movie. Not that the movie is boring (in fact, I couldn’t stop it in the middle to go into the restroom), but you get to the end wondering… is it just this? Well, that was my feeling…

Bikini Girls on Ice (2009)

Bikini Girls on Ice

Bikini Girls on Ice

Bikini Girls on Ice is classified in IMDB as, in the main category, horror. I tend to disagree. Although the writer might want this to be a horror movie it is too soft.

First, there is no story. Some guy kills everybody he finds. Period.

So, how did I manage to watch the movie till the end? Look at the picture on the right and you will understand. Yes, the guy kills everybody he finds. But this movie director known that, if he added bikini girls, people would stay till the end of the movie. Not because they are interested in whatever will happen to them (they will die, of course), but because they are interested in looking to well looking girls in bikini.

And some handsome girls.

Movie is 4.2/10 in IMDB at the time of writing. I am sure it is not because of the movie. Rating 4, just because of them… the bikini girls.

The Grudge 2 (2006)

The Grudge 2

The Grudge 2

I can’t remember what I saw in 2006 to note on my list that this was a movie o see. Now, my only explanation would be: I need to be mistaken.

This movie is boring. If it is supposed to be horror or suspense movie, let me tell you that I did not jump in my sofa any time. There is nothing really horrifying. The special effects are kind of trivial for this kind of movie. And the plot is.. wait, is there any plot? Many times I compare movies with Lost in Translation, because I think there isn’t any story on that movie. But comparing, on that movie at least there is a beginning, a middle, and one end. In this one, nothing starts, nothing ends, just a set of bad-glued scenes.

Jennifer’s Body – 2009

Jennifer's Body

Jennifer's Body

Today I watched “Jennifer’s Body” movie. It is cataloged as Comedy and Thriller. I can’t understand why “Comedy”. “Horror” would be more appropriate. I know it is not anything really frightening. But it is not a comedy as well. I did not laugh once in the movie.

OK, enough about the movie classification. That might be a typo or something.

The movie, teenagers, sex, blood, virgin, devil. I think it should be enough to describe the movie. By the way, nice body. Yes, from Jennifer…

The Reaping

The ReapingThe Reaping is just freaky. Completely. With nice special effects, good enough actors, a brilliant child actress, and a different story, The Reaping is a strange movie.

Sometimes it is difficult to follow (to understand when people are dreaming, when things are going on), but for an Horror movie we can’t expect for everything to be clear, or things wouldn’t be so freaky strange.

I can’t understand how this movie is so bad rated in IMDB (5.6 in 10). I would vote for about 7.5 or 8. I confess that I do not watch much horror movies, but this seemed good enough.

Disturbia

DisturbiaAnd yet another post regarding a movie. But quite different from the last few posts. This is a Thriller that can also be cataloged a little as Horror. But not that much. Well, the story is interesting and keeps us interested in the story for the 104 minutes. Also, keeps us interested given it has Sarah Roemer around.

It is when I see these pages from these girls that I think I am too old. And that there are quite a lot of nice girls, but I have no chance. Well, but no more about me, going back to the movie: although at first the movie title, the soundtrack, and the trailers makes us think of an horror movie, it is not that creepy.

Exorcist: The Beginning

Exorcist: The BeginningThis is for those who say I just see teen movies. The main problem is that now I really don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep this night. In any case, it could be a good thing, to have more time to work…

Now, regarding the movie… first I must say I never saw any of the other exorcist movies. Just the Scary Movies and their jokes about the Exorcist. If you look to how IMDB classifies it, it goes for thriller, horror and adventure. In fact,  I would say it is more horror than everything else. First, because you really don’t get scaried for something unexpected to happen… you get scaried for the things you see and that you, unfortunately, expect. With this I’m not saying I foresee the story.. I’m just saying that the scenes appear when you are waiting for them.

Oh, well… wish me a good night…
