This is a Spanish movie, with two comic book characters, Mortadelo e Filemón. As a kid, I read a pair of books. Not the greatest comics of the world, but acceptable to have a good time. After those times I never heard again about them. In a presentation on Animation I attended, an invited speaker from Ilion Animation Studios, that worked in the animation of this movie, shown some small videos, and I got tempted to see it.
The animation is great, but the story is cheesy (as I remember from the comic books), and there are some dead parts, that took forever to end (as an excuse, I was watching the movie in Spanish, without subtitles, and I don’t really know Spanish.
One more season of Modern Family is over. Some good episodes, some pretty bad. Example of the bad is the season finale. If that is what they have to make the audience wait for the next season, the series is condemned. If I will continue watching it, probably yes. Why? Because I know it is not restricted to the season finale, and there are some good episodes. Also, because I am stunned how much Ariel Winter has grown in the last years, and how cute geek her character is. Just sad her role in the season is rarely central.
Eleven seasons. A lot of episodes. And finally Sheldon gets married. Well, will not talk much about the story. Things continue much like in the previous ten seasons. But the story evolves, and jokes keep mainly at the same level. Not bad for so many years of life. Anyway, usually I would add a screenshot with Kaley Cuoco, for this time I preferred to put this scene, as it reminds of me. When I have something in mind I almost forget everything else to try my approach/task/solution.
Well, this is probably the only Series made in Portugal I really follow. Well, the argument, at least for the first season, was adapted from another show. But I think the second season is mostly original from Portugal. It is a comedy show, of about 30 minutes per episode, of a team of cookers and restaurant staff, and their lives. It is fun, it shows food, have some nice girls, so, why not?
One the main things I noticed in the second season is that the first half episodes were recorded without two of the main actors. Although one came back, the other was completely replaced and, if at first, felt weird, the story was good enough to back the substitution. Talking about that, the substitute is Marco Horácio, someone I knew only from singing a comic version of the Portuguese Fado. His acting is not bad. Really.
Will continue following it, if a new season comes back. And specially if Benedita Pereira continues in the show. She resembles a friend…
Well, undoubtedly, Fast and Furious is just another franchising, but the last (yeah, the eighth) is just great. Not as an action movie, or as a car movie. But for fun! Really. A gave a lot of bigger laughs with this movie than with some “comedies”. But this sequence shown above, with Jason Statham, is just great. Not just the baby is cute, but Jason is a good enough actor to be cheerful and cute, despite of his “brutality” history on these movie. Hope the quality of this sequence of action/affection can inspire for future movies. Love it.
Yep, the first Portuguese series that I comment here, at the end of a season. This is a comedy, a little unrealistic on some points, but lots of fun. Also, it has some nice girls, and show nice food. And I always liked cooking shows, so, why not join them? The only sad thing is that Benedita Pereira’s character reminds me of someone… that does not know of my existence, unless in real need of computer services. Sad!
Modern Family continues, and like The Big Bang Theory, the story is mostly the same from the beginning. Two gays with relationship problems, and self-doubt, a lazy mom and the three kids, and the old guy with the cute woman. From time to time an episode is better than the others, making a laugh, but most of the time it just guarantees a 20 minutes of OK time. Example of this warm evolution is the season finale, that was just like any other episode from the series. I know this series is mostly based on each individual episode, than in a continuous story, but nevertheless, it would be quite easy to make some suspense on the “umbrella story”.
Yep, this is the second time I blog about a Portuguese series. It started right in the same week as “Ministério do Tempo”, but it is a comedy. It follows the 20 minutes of other well known series like Allo Allo! or The Big Bang Theory, and with non-sense ranging from the minimum to crazy. What I like in it? Well, the idea (stories in the Kitchen of a well known restaurant), the fun, and of course, Benedita Pereira. So, it is another series I will keep my eye on. Stay tuned.
Probably this is the first time I post about a Portuguese series. As far as I could find, it is not original from Portugal but Spain, but adapted (or localized) to Portugal. It is sufficiently strange, and includes enough reference to history, to make it interesting. I liked the first episode and will give it a chance. Keep tuned.
The thing I stated yesterday in my previous post is undoubtedly true. It is enough to read some comments about Pixels, and being a 80’s geek. The movie might not be great. But the retro approach, the old games, the pixelated stuff, is enough for liking the movie. Even if there are some stupid jokes, and some bad decisions. If you love PacMan, if you played Centipede, if you broke some tiles with Arkanoid, if you crossed streets with Frog, you will likely like this movie.
