Kate Beckett and Richard Casltle
One more season is over. It seems that every season that comes passes faster, although they have the same number of episodes. Well, this season is different from the previous ones because this time we have Kate and Castle together, in a relationship. It is also different because… and spoilers follow… this season doesn’t end with Kate almost dead. Well, kind of.
The crimes are not very different from previous seasons. We just had the luck to know Castle father, and a few more steps on the Kate’s mother assassination.
Now, we are waiting for the next season, wondering what kind of direction it will take. Whatever comes, here I am to watch.
Castle, Season 4, Episode 23
And another season if over. Castle is a great series on murder investigation (homicides), where Castle, a fiction writer, gets to join Kate Beckett, the homicides detective, to get inspiration for his books. Of course he ends up helping Kate a lot, and getting in love with her. And this season is mostly that, Castle trying to get to Kate’s heart, Kate closing her heart, until Castle get tired of waiting, and tries to make Kate jealous, and it all continued back and forth. Nevertheless, they end this season with a kiss. So, season 5 promises them together. Finally.
What I like in this series is that they focus on the murder, and their story is going around it, not the other way around (like what happens with House, where his story is the main part, and not the patient, as it was in the first seasons).
So, here we are, waiting for season 5, probably taking the time to read some of Castle books (first one, Heat Wave, already read. you can find a review on it (in Portuguese) in my other blog).
Molly C. Quinn as Alexis Castle
Yes, I know Alexis is not one of the main characters of Castle. But I think she’s a pretty girl, and this scene was very nice.
I do not want to talk much about the last episodes from Castle as you might not have seen them yet. What I can say is that this season keep the quality of the previous ones. In fact, some episodes are much better. There is just something that I miss, and that I already missed in the second season. The first episodes from the first season all started with a dead body a some music. No talk, no story. Just a body. That was kind of fun.
Although you can still watch episodes in an independent way, there are a few (four or five?) that continue the story from each other. Basically, they deal with Becket’s mother dead, and her investigation on that case. And of course, the last episode is one of those. And more I can not say…
Castle, Season 2
I was almost on time. I should have finished to watch the second season of Castle before yesterday. It would be a tribute to the new season. But it wasn’t possible.
Now, what can I say about this second season? Sorry for some spoilers (almost none important): that new police guy that appears in the last episodes does his job too well… I get angry and I got enough of him already. So, I hope he gets forgotten soon. Also, the relationship between Castle and Beckett is more and more tense. That is not good for the overall comedy.
Regarding murders, I am sorry that now episodes doesn’t start with some dead guy. It was like a mark: watching the episode looking to a dead guy. The stories, are just OK. Nothing brilliant, but good enough to keep you watching them.
I though you might be interested to know that I finished watching Castle, season 1. OK, probably you are not interested just on that simple information, but to know something more. Probably you would like to know what I think about it. To tell you that I am preparing to start watching season 2 would would be, probably, enough to make you understand I liked it.
Now, how can I describe Castle? Murders, detectives, Castle and comedy. I will not tell anything from the story, but the series is well constructed. Instead of telling us the full story of the characters in the first episode (that happens in the latest Knight Rider – 2008), in Castle they are built through episodes. You will learn more and more about the main characters, one step at a time. And that information will be somehow connected to the story, they will not just fall from the sky.
Castle Cast for Season 1
Just watched the first episode from Castle. It is always difficult to comment on a series just from the first episode. And this is especially true if you have a first episode that is, unlike of the following (I think), the contextualization of future episodes. I think that is what happened on this.
For now, I can say the episode was interesting and funny enough to make me watch the next one. So, more later…
