The worst one of the trilogy. If there is a reason to watch it until the end, the reason is the beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones. Other than that, the story is not interesting, the way it is presented is not the best, and some issues are not very clear. The third followed the approach of the first, making it a success. So, if I had to suggest anyone to watch Ocean’s trilogy, I would, doubtful, suggest to skip this one. Yeah, just 4 in 10 at IMDB.
Seen Ocean’s Thirteen a lot of time ago. And a lot of time to see this one, and the Twelve too. And I am sorry I took to much. The movie is just great. The same kind of way to tell the story as the Thirteen, but anyway, entertaining, fun, with action. Great cast, although I am not a fan of Brad Pitt. Anyway, great. 8 in 10 @ IMDB.
Yeah, I liked the first two (Cube and Hypercube) and noticed recently that a Cube Zero was available since 2004. So, I decided to watch it. Well, given it mentions zero, this should, probably, be considered the first on the three movies (you know, that stuff like Star Wars, making time go back…).
I like this movie not because of the concept, or jokes, but because I like to wonder what traps will be in the next room. In fact I think this concept would be great in a computer game. Anybody around willing to write a script for it? Maybe I can find some friends to develop it.
The special effects are more advanced than in the previous Ghost Rider movie, but they aren’t better. And the way the movie was recorded, in a way that seems to add dynamic, sucks. At least, I did not like. The story is.. meh… nothing special, and with lots of flaws. And, at the end, it is not clear what is the status of Ghost Rider.
Talking about girls, one do not just simply replace Eva Mendes. And one do not just replace Eva Mendes by some Violante Placido. She has a nice pair of eyes… but Eva Mendes has.. erm.. two great pairs, not just eyes.
It can seems strange, but this screenshot above is from the movie and resumes the movie story pretty well. I confess I did not read anything about this movie, just the main actors names, Robert de Niro and John Travolta. That was enough to make me watch this. But it shouldn’t. Unfortunately good and great actors can sometime do crappy movies. I could complain about John Travolta accent of Serbian, but I do not know Serbian enough for that (enough.. do not know any!), and I just can say it should have took the time to practice it. Other than that, the story is about… sorry.. spoilers… two man fighting and torturing each other. Mostly with a decent reason. Even at the end of the movie that reason, if it exists, is not clear. And, as American as the movie is, everything ends well. Voting 6 in 10.
Gemma Arterton might be a good reason for me to like this movie, but it is not. She is gorgeous, even as a Vampire, but the truth is that the movie is kind of interesting. It is a drama, more than anything else. There are no really stale moments, and the story is quite fluid. But the best thing on the movie is not just vampires that do not bite (but use a pointy nail), but the way the story is told. In different moments different characters tell parts of the relevant story. And as you might imagine, given it is a Vampire story, we are not talking about a few years story, but more than 200 years of story. Not all those years are relevant, but you understand the idea. Just like some comment on ICheckMovies, I can say this is a refreshing Vampires movie. Not the usual boring way. Very different. I kind of liked it (not a favorite movie, but enough for a 7 in 10 @ IMDB).
The usual story. Stupid boy loves girl. Stupid boy lacks nuts. Girl gets stupid and in danger. Stupid boy grows some nuts, and saves girl. Now, join some Zombies in there, and some jokes. And a couple of rules on how to fight zombies. First, keep your cardio. That’s one more reason for me to do some exercise. Also interesting rule is: enjoy the little things (that’s why I like small girls).
Not a brilliant movie. Felt a little tired and bored from time to time. Probably some scenes could be cut giving more speed and interest to the plot. But who am I…
This afternoon was time for The X-Files, I want to believe. I was never much a fan of the series. Probably because when it started in the TV, in Portugal, I was young and probably afraid of the unknown. In any case, I wanted to see this movie to redeem myself.
What I liked on this movie was that Mulder and Scully weren’t after the paranormal guy, but were after a common human killer. So, where are the X-Files? Well, this time they used the paranormal guy to reach the killer.
About the movie, I can complain of some dead scenes, with Mulder and Scully talking. They were not many, but started to bore me a little.
Final vote of 8 in 10.
After yesterday’s shitty movie (The Grudge 2), I got some better luck with this one: The International. It is mostly the usual Hollywood kind of movie, with the hero surviving everything. But, instead of the usual end where everything changes and truth and justice prevails, this movie shows that unfortunately there are too many bad guys. This means that unless the correct people are in the correct places (tribunals, governments, etc), there isn’t any justice possible for the big guys. But do not change side. Just take care to elect the least of the corrupt candidates to the government 😉
But back to the movie, some great scenes, and nice acting. Voted 8 in 10 at IMDB.
After Get Smart, a less clumsy super agent, 007 in Quantum of Solace. Do not continue or I will give some spoilers. Not that I will tell you the full story but I need to do some complains:
- first, there is no excuse to wreck the Aston Marin in the first minutes of the movie. Instead they could offer it, and I would take care of it with love.
- second, there is no excuse to let Mrs. Fields (Gemma Arterton) to die. Instead… yes, I would take care of her with love. Beautiful girl.
Now, enough of complains. The movie is full of action, and that is nice. There are no dead scenes (as it existed in other movies from the series, when 007 goes to bed with girls). The only scene related to that would be the one above, but it is quick. Oh, and it has Gemma.
