...or how to steal an user account.

OK, think of a web application where you need a login and password to enter. Normally you forget your password and use a button to reset your password. One of two things happens, or the system sends to your email a new password, or sends a link to a page where you can change your password.

It can also happens that it sends an email with your new password, and your new password is 'change'.

What do you think of it?

Ok, I have an iPod. Now what? Well, I synchronized it with my iTunes for now, and I am listening to music. Interesting enough I didn't try the earphones yet, as I have headphones here where I work, and I used some speakers on another occasion.

Also, let me say that the stopwatch is very handy. I have the iPod about two days and I already needed it. Coincidence, probably, because I almost never need one.

The iPod interface is very easy to use. Buttons (or keys, as you prefer) have consistent functionalities on all iPod functions. Unfortunately the interface is not yet complete. I really miss (Apple, please listen me!!!) is a delete option. Like, I ripped a CD and I do not like all the musics, and I want to delete some. How do I do this? I need to connect the iPod with iTunes to remove it. It is not logical. The same happens if I want do delete podcasts as soon as I listen to them.

Regarding podcasts, let me say that I was quite amused with the video quality for WebbAlert podcasts. Much more smooth than on my PowerBook G4 (ok, with a lot of software running).

For now I am happy with the iPod, but functionalities start to be missing...

Yes, I own an iPod Classic, black, with my name in the rear. It took about 15 days to arrive, as UPS took some time do notice that the address included both 'Portugal' and 'Spain', and the correct one was 'Portugal'.

But it is here, now. I didn't connect it yet, so I do not know if it is operational (but I hope so). I just tried to check how the dock is used and didn't understand yet.

Let me say that Apple is great at eye candy. Not just that one you see in Mac OS X or in iPhone. The iPod box is just great, beautiful, rigid. Great!
I think I found a bug on UPS delivery system. Some kind of endless loop. Just check this delivery sequence (still expecting the package in Portugal!!!).

Last year in my visit to Zaragoza I found this nice dog.
See? Drinking coke is healthy to dogs. Look at that nice hair!

This whole thing of the blog being down while I was in Sevilla, and all the confusions I had when upgrading my server (some details on a later post, probably) make me forget to post about the photos we (me and Luís Miguel Braga, also known as Microft) took in Sevilla. Just click on that photo to check them out.

Apple revealed their new iPods about three weeks ago. Biggest changes were in iPod nano (now with display) and the new iPhone without phone, the iTouch. iTouch is nice, but has few disk space (a flash limitation, if I am not wrong) and is very expensive. iPod nano is nice, but has few disk space if you want to use it as standard storage as well.

Given this rationale I found that the iPod classic (80GB) would be nice. It is not that much expensive, has a great storage capacity and I would say it is big enough not to lose it.

In Portugal (at least in the cities I visit often) there aren't iPod Classics yet. Also, and unfortunately, Apple does not have an online store in Portugal. But they have in Spain. and accordingly to this post (in Portuguese) there is a trick to order from Apple Spain and deliver to Portugal. Well, I tried it and I hope to receive my iPod sooner or later. As soon as I receive it I'll post here some details on this buy.
I am not sure yet, but I think my blog is back. Movable Type 4.01 is out and it seems that it fixes the memory leak this blog was experiencing. Hope to post something interesting (or not) very soon.
thesimpsons.jpg
While in Sevilla I watched 'The Simpsons Movie'. As many other people, I was expecting that The Simpsons made a movie would be a 30 minutes episode made bigger. But I was mistaken. The Simpsons Movie is really a movie, and the story really fill the 87 minutes. The movie is fun from the beginning (20th Century Fox logo) till the end of the credits. The story is, as usual with The Simpsons, laughing at us. It is not properly that they found new jokes, they just show the reality, and we laugh without thinking at it. Thus, in generality, I liked the movie and would vote for about 9 in 10. I just can not understand why people laugh so much regarding that Spider Pig scene. While I agree that the music is fun, it is a quite stupid scene. Oh well...
A friend wrote some time ago a list of places where she slept. I am not really interested letting you all know where I slept, but I started thinking... what cities did I visit thanks to a conference? Well, here is the list (omitting Portugal):
  • in Spain, I visited Valladolid, Alcalá de Henares (near Madrid), Barcelona, Zaragoza and Sevilla;
  • in United Kingdom I visited London, Birmingham and Belfast;
  • in Czech Republic I visited Karlovy Vary (where the conference was) and passed some days on Prague.
  • in Germany I visited Freiburg;
  • when in Germany, I visited Basel in Swiss.
  • in Norway I visited Oslo;
  • and in Brasil, I visited Rio de Janeiro.
I think this is it...
As you might have noticed this blog is being off-line for some time. This is because Movable Type is sucking all my server memory from time to time. I am still trying to debug this problem. Meanwhile, sorry for the inconvenience.

Next Sunday, about 7:30 am, I will be heading Braga to take a friend.
And then go driving down through Portugal until Sevilla.
I am not sure what is the quickest route...
 ...but after giving a look at ViaMichelin and Google Maps,
I think I'll go straight down till the end of A2, then take the "Via do Infante" till Spain.

They say this is about 750Km. If I do about 100Km/h I would take 7:30 Hours.
I hope that at 120Km/h it takes a little less.

Wish me a good and pleasant trip with this HOT weather :-S
LicenseToWed.jpg
No, I am not asking for license to wed. In fact I do not have a girlfriend yet, so there will take some time before I can wed. But I went to the cinema with three girls. One of them I know for a long time (a nice and tall girl), and two friends of her. One very cute, and the other a little more strange that speaks too much. But I am not here to talk about the girls but about the movie. Well, the movie is a comedy that runs for 90 minutes. Thus, a small movie. There aren't much slow scenes, and as such, the 90 minutes seems yet less.

The story is basic: a pair needs to attend to a marriage preparation course where the priest (Reverend Frank) spies the couple. Although basic, you can laugh a lot of times during the movie. Also, Mandy Moore is a very cute girl. Really cute.

If I need to rate this movie probably it would be somewhere between 6 or 7 in 10. By the way, IMDB rate is 5.1/10.

I think there is a lot of people that is worth a Nobel Prize. The most frequent reasons not to have got it, is because in that time there was no Nobel Prize award, or because there is not a category in which to insert that award.

Trying to solve that, I'll begin giving virtual Nobel Prizes.
And the first two nominated are:
  • the bed inventor. There are numerous reasons to award this inventor. Imagine how many brilliant people was done in a bed, how many of them was born in a bed, how many of them had a Nobel Prize that was thought in bed before falling asleep. Do you need more reasons?
  • ok, this second one is important specially for people like me: the Air Conditioner inventor. How can anybody work with the air so hot? This is very important with the global warming. If people do not have Air Conditioner, people can not think, and will not invent anything worth of a Nobel Prize.
How I hate horny cats. Specially when they are horny during the night. And if they start doing sex, its all fucked up. No sleep during about one hour. Meeeeaaaaw... meeeeaaaaw..., starts one of them (guessing, the female). After some encompassed meaws, starts the other (guessing, the male), meeeaw, meaaaw. So, how can you guess it is sex? Because they are doing meeeaw at the same time, continuing with the same interval between them.
