About a week ago (and some more days) I went to see Ocean't Thirteen. My usual company for cinema nights want to see it and I went with her. You know, any movie is a good movie to go out with a girl.
But back to the movie. I didn't see any of the previous two movies, although I wanted to see them. But, hey, this is not a trilogy, so the story should be understandable without seeing the other movies. Well, the story was, but some details would be lost if my friend didn't explain me who some people were.
The movie style is different from the usual thriller or crime movies. But it is quite easy to follow. Unfortunately subtitles were white, and the movie is too bright. That resulted in a lot of subtitles not read. Fortunately I understand a little of spoken English.
The story is interesting, is funny, includes action and girls and very nice boobs. So, I can't ask much more...
Yesterday went to see Fantastic Four, the second. To start with, let me tell you I was not expecting much from the movie. The first was nothing too good, and reviews said this one was worst. And they were correct.
Any way, the movie is enjoyable. It is not too big, about 90 minutes, and that is good. Some smart directors try to make big movies, and then we almost sleep waiting for something to happen. This one can catch you the attention enough, with some jokes, some girls and some action. Regarding girls, I wonder why Sue Storm falls in the ground naked facing down. If they made it the other way around, people would like much more the movie...
Now, for some of the quotes I most like are not in IMDB quotes pages, so, here goes one of them:
Johnny Storm when following the Silver Surfer: Exhibitionist!
This weekend I saw S.W.A.T. It is the typical Hollywood/American movie, with police, bad guys, patriotism and such things. I do not see things so much in that way, but I had some good time watching it.
There is a girl (and that is important in a movie), there is action, there is some good sound, some jokes and it got me distracted. What can I ask more?
Ok, I could ask a lot more, like more girls, and naked ones, but that probably would lead to a pornographic movie and not to an action one...
Today I tried to do one more payment through PayPal. After adding the credit card information PayPal said they have canceled my account because the credit card was invalid. Also, they issued a code, some kind of Case Id number. When I tried to use that code to know details about the payment problems, they say they have no case with that ID.
Knowing my credit card was all right, created another account on paypal using another email (something that we have anywhere in the Internet) and used the same credit card. And it worked.
Isn't there anything better than PayPal around?
For those who like photos, and read Portuguese, I created a fotolog: http://fotolog.com/hashashin. This way I can post photos with deeper comments than the ones I post here. Now is up to you to understand what I want to say with deep!
Last month or so, I started bidding a little on ebay.co.uk. I bought some CDs and DVDs and it was all ok. Some time ago I found out an 8 GB MP3 player by 1 GBP in Hong Kong. I decided to try to buy it. I won the bid. Unfortunately, the player got stuck in customs. I knew this could happen, but I decided to try anyway. I paid the customs, and the total amount was not bad at all for the 8 GB MP3 player. Connected it to the computer, it detected the device correctly. Everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, next time I turned the MP3 player on it said the memory was corrupt. Formated it and the computer just detected 4 GB. I tried to connect to different computers (Windows and Mac OS) but same problem on both.
During the waiting for this player (when it was in customs) I bid another MP3 player for my sister. This one was being sold by somebody registered in the US, but the item was located in United Kingdom. I won the bid. It was sent from Hong Kong again. Damn stupid seller. Customs again. Again, a good value for an 8 GB player. When formating it... the USB cable sent is not compatible with the device.
If I find somebody from Hong Kong selling anything, I will slap him!
Last month I've started to develop a web application. A simple one. Basically to maintain a database and some statistics. While the project is simple, the truth is that some AJAX can be of use. Things like interdependent combo-boxes can benefit of AJAX, specially if there is too much data to transfer at once when loading the page.
With that in mind I started looking into dojo, a toolkit for portable JavaScript, with some modules to make AJAX easier. I tried to use it, and I almost got it working. When asking for help on mailing lists, I got no answer, and the documentation was too poor.
As the project is not academic, and we have deadlines to make it ready, I searched for another option. I found mochikit. This one is a lot smaller than dojo (and as far as I noted, not so known, as well), but is well documented. Unfortunately the mailing list is not so active as I would like, but a little more than dojo's one. And with some time, I made my software work with mochikit with too much effort.
For me, Mochikit won the first war against Dojo!
