stamp.pngPostCrossing is a friend of mine project, a little inspired in BookCrossing. The idea is simple: share postcards.

First you register yourself in the website with your address. Then, you ask the system a random address, and send a postcard to that address. Then, you continue. Other people registered in the project will also do this, so, you should receive some postcards as well.

The website is well done, with interesting maps to see the trips postcards do, and where there are the most subscribed users.

Yesterday received my first two postcards, one from Australia and another from Brazil. Today, I've sent my first one, to Germany.

fantasticfour.jpgYesterday night I went to see the Fantastic Four movie. First (and only) bad thing was: my stomach was hurting. So, I didn't had properly a dinner.

The good thing: the movie is good. A friend didn't like it, but I did. When you go for such a movie, you know what you expect. These are comics characters so, they need to keep it similar to the original. And in that I think the production was very good.

Other interesting point is that the movie is an Adventure one, (imdb says Action/Adventure/Fantasy/Sci-Fi) but I would add right in the second place "Comic" or "Humor". The movie includes a lot of action but a lot of humor as well.

Finally, it has Jessica Alba. Need I say more?

madagascar.pngI went to see this movie about two weeks ago, but didn't have the time to blog about it before.

It is a very cute and funny movie. I'll not comment the story as I think you should see the movie. What I can say is that the Alex (the Leon) reminds me when I am hungry. In the other side, the four Pinguins remind me why I like linux.

When I entered the cinema I was expecting the original (English) version. Unfortunately (or not) it was the Portuguese one. I had a very good surprise as it was very weill dubbed.

Recently I've been working a lot with Inkscape, (one of) the SVG editor for Linux. It is a very nice editor, working very well.

Main problem is import and export. If you ask a company for their logo, they will send a raster image. If you ask for a vectorial format, you will get an EPS or a FreeHand file (or with some luck, an Adobe Illustrator file).

To convert these files to SVG is not easy. Well, if you have Adobe Illustrator, it will export SVG. If you have Corel Draw, it will export the eps file to SVG. If you have FreeHand you save it as Adobe Illustrator, and then you need it to save as SVG. This all if you are lucky and these programs do not mess the final SVG code. And, of course, if you have money to have them all installed. Thanks, friends, for your help!!

Export is simpler. People tend to ask for specific format but most of the time they can just work with PDF, and inkscape exports PDF. For specific formats you just need to have the application to import the PDF file, and save in the native format.

Now, when will we have SVG as a real portable format?
